Tokenised property gets a market
Fractional stakes in Dubai Land Department title deeds became tradable between investors on February 20, 2026, under VARA supervision — the pilot behind it had drawn investors from over 50 nationalities and more than Dh18.5 million.

GITEX leaves the World Trade Centre
Dubai's largest technology show moves to the Dubai Exhibition Centre at Expo City for its 2026 edition, and shifts from its long-standing October slot to December 7–11.

2,100 jobs, and no denominator
The Real Estate Empowerment Programme created more than 2,100 jobs for Emiratis in Dubai property between 2023 and 2026 — about fifty a month. The release gives no baseline to measure them against.

Six clocks, one AI-designed drug
Rentosertib comes from Insilico Medicine, whose first-listed address on the paper is Abu Dhabi, next door to Dubai. Six proteomic aging clocks read a lower biological age in treated patients; the authors say the reading is not yet clean.

Marked text, private detector
Anthropic began watermarking Claude's output on 2 August, in Dubai as everywhere else. The mark is in the model's word choices, and the tool that reads it is in private preview.

Half a trillion in eight months
Dubai's January to August closed at Dh523.44 billion across 148,564 transactions. August alone was Dh46.22 billion — and sales were barely more than half of it.

GPT-6 Astra is out
GPT-6 Astra shipped on 3 September at $10 and $50 per million tokens, through the OpenAI API, Microsoft Azure and AWS Bedrock. What DST notes from Dubai: not top of every table, and enterprise access off by default.

One platform for the developer journey
‘Initial Registration’ went live on 3 September. Project registration, transaction registration and escrow oversight stop being three separate errands for a Dubai developer.

Brent is 44% above last September
Brent traded at $96.90 on 4 September, down 2.5% on the day but up 11% on the month and 44% on the year. The pump price rise of 1 September was the Dubai end of it.

Lab-grown diamonds get their own desk
UAE lab-grown diamond volumes rose 91.5% in a year to 76.9 million carats. Dubai's DMCC has stopped treating them as a footnote to the natural stone trade.

GITEX is a December show now
The show that owned Dubai's October for forty-five years now runs 7–11 December at Expo City. October's hotel week has lost its anchor tenant.

296 sales above $10m in half a year
Knight Frank's half-year count puts $5.1bn of $10m-plus Dubai deals on the record for H1 2026 — up 16% in number and 14% in value on last year.

IPS 2026: three days, five halls
IPS runs 7–9 September across five halls at the World Trade Centre, timed to Dubai Land Department's own calendar and co-located with AIM Congress.

1,900 exhibitors, three days, one hall
The power-sector show marks fifty years at the Dubai World Trade Centre from 1 to 3 September, with 35,000 expected from more than 150 countries.

September fuel prices: diesel +13%
Super 98 is Dh3.80, Special 95 is Dh3.69, E-Plus is Dh3.61 and diesel is Dh4.30 a litre at Dubai pumps. Diesel is the number that matters, and not because of cars.

Apple's new CEO built the hardware
John Ternus became Apple's chief executive on 1 September after twenty-five years inside the building. As DST reads it from Dubai, the interesting part is not that Apple replaced its CEO: it is who it did not look for.

186 new developers entered Dubai this year
Between January and mid-August 2026 the Dubai Land Department registered 186 new real estate development companies — about 25 a month. 180 of them were licensed by one authority.
Dubai property sales reach Dh286b in H1
Dubai recorded Dh286.43 billion of property sales across 79,229 transactions in the first half of 2026 — an average of 433 sales and about Dh1.57 billion changing hands every day.

Tourist VAT refunds in a day
The Federal Tax Authority and Planet launched an AI-powered refund platform on 20 October 2026: tourists leaving through Dubai International, Zayed International or Sharjah now get their VAT back in one business day instead of about nine. What that means for a Dubai shop on the scheme.

DMCC Foundations are here
DMCC formally established its Foundations Regulations on 23 September 2026: a Dubai free-zone foundation is a legal entity separate from its founder, built for succession, long-term asset holding and family governance, and it can be set up with initial assets from USD 100. Onboarding opens in the coming weeks.

Residence for GCC families
Dubai's GDRFA issues UAE residence to the wives and children of GCC nationals who hold a foreign passport. The fee is AED 220, with AED 500 more for an application made inside the country; the documents are a photo, a passport copy and, over 18, a medical; the grace period after expiry is 60 days.

Golden visa at the sales centre
Buyers at the Meraas and Nakheel sales centre in Dubai can now start a UAE residency application at the same desk: a facilitation service for the 10-year Golden Visa on property worth AED 2 million or more, with the application filed by an accredited visa provider and the decision left to the authorities.

A fourth lane on Ras Al Khor and Al Khail
Two roads past MBR City now have four lanes instead of three: Ras Al Khor Road towards Al Khail, and a 1 km stretch of Al Khail towards Abu Dhabi. The RTA counts a third more capacity on each.

Amman's BRT wins in Dubai
The 14th Dubai Award for Sustainable Transport gave its $100,000 Elite Award to the Greater Amman Municipality's bus rapid transit, which carried 73.9 million passengers. Etihad Rail, DP World, Careem Bike and Dubai Police's cycling safety work were among the other winners of a record 750 entries.

E-invoicing rules eased
Ministerial Decision 197 of 2026 trims the UAE e-invoicing regime a Dubai company must build for: transactions inside a tax group stay out of it for 24 months, invoices no longer have to be stored in the country, and the system-failure notification duty is gone.

Provider accreditation rewritten
Ministerial Decision 168 of 2026 replaces the two earlier decisions on accrediting e-invoicing service providers for Dubai and the rest of the UAE. The pre-approval stage is gone, providers may use third-party Peppol products, and firms with preliminary approval had 30 days from 1 October to meet the new requirements.

Federal budget 2027: Dh90.1bn
The Cabinet approved a Dh292.5 billion federal budget plan for 2027–2029, the frame every Dubai company trades inside. The 2027 year is Dh90.1 billion: social development and pensions take Dh34.6 billion, government affairs Dh29.1 billion, and infrastructure and economic resources Dh3 billion.
